Happy #whyphiwednesday from new member Milligan Clark-Schoeb 🌻

“I grew up playing sports, so I was always surrounded by a strong community of girls—both at home, as the middle of three sisters, and on my lacrosse and soccer teams. I was lucky enough to attend high school with both my younger and older sisters for all four years. The thought of leaving them when it was time to go to college was incredibly scary, as I had grown so used to being surrounded by girls who were always there for me.

Before rush, I wasn’t sure if Greek life would be for me. I was the first person in my family to rush, as everyone else chose to play sports in college. Without the familiarity and comfort of my sisters and teammates, I hoped to find that same closeness and support through my new community at Michigan. I’m so grateful that I took the leap and rushed because I’ve met some of the most welcoming, loving, and incredible girls I’ve ever known. Since joining Alpha Phi, I’ve felt at home and supported in a way I never imagined, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. These girls continue to amaze me every day with their hard work, intelligence, creativity, and talent, constantly pushing me to be my best in all aspects of life.

I’m so excited to live in the house next year with some of my amazing new sisters!”

“Since I can remember, I’ve always been the type to be doing ten things at once. I love to ski, play golf, make art, and sew, among many other things. “Growing up my entire life I always had a tight group of girls around me. Coming to Michigan I knew I needed to find a place where I felt just as comfortable and accepted. Miami to Michigan is a big jump so I was cautiously optimistic going into rush.

After every round of rush I called my childhood best friends and GUSHED about the infectious enthusiasm and warmth I felt at Alpha Phi. Throughout the rush process it became obvious that my heart was set on Phi. Every time I walked through the doors of 1830 and was matched up with a sister, all my rush related anxiety disappeared.

As a new member I could not be more certain that I made the right decision choosing Phi and am beyond excited for what’s to come! I am so happy I found that close group of girls to have fun and make memories with here in Michigan!”

Happy day two of open house & of course happy #whyphiwednesday 💝 today senior Mallory Stabile shares her love for Alpha Phi,

“I knew Alpha Phi was my home when my recruitment nerves quickly turned into me dying of laughter, smiling so hard my face hurt after each round, and never wanting the parties to end. In Alpha Phi it felt like I was no longer talking to a stranger who had picked me up at the door 20 minutes ago, but I someone who could have easily been my best friend (thank you @breebbaker ). Somehow I’m now a senior and recruitment feels bittersweet because I get to see how much I’ve grown and how Alpha Phi, these women, have shaped me into who I am today, but I also get to see who Alpha Phi will become through recruiting and meeting the incredible PNMs. And most of all, I get to be who Bree was to me- and make instant connections that go beyond a recruitment party.

In a lucky coincidence last year, I ended up living with two freshmen for the second semester. As the youngest in my family, I’d always dreamed of having little sisters—so living with @allybrangham & @rosesarner gave me exactly that. Watching them go through recruitment and experience the same excitement towards Alpha Phi, and then them both joining and creating their own memories & friendships has been so meaningful. To see the joy I felt through someone else’s eyes was unexpected, but they reminded me that Alpha Phi truly is special and why it will always be my home.”
